2012 Torch Awards

2012 marks the Tri-State Better Business Bureau’s sixth annual Business of Integrity Torch Awards.  Starting August 15, our accredited businesses may start applying for one of these prestigious awards, signifying outstanding ethics in our community.  The  BBB recognizes up to four accredited businesses who demonstrate integrity, ethics, and high standards in business behavior each year.

Businesses who apply will submit documentation showing how they exemplify qualities of integrity, transparency, leadership and meet the BBB’s Standards of Trust. Recipients will then be chosen by an independent panel of local business professionals and educators, and then be announced at the Torch Awards luncheon.

Recipients will receive a beautiful glass award, recognition in planned newspaper, media and web elements, and be honored at our Torch Awards luncheon in November.

Consumers who have had positive marketplace experiences with our accredited businesses are also encouraged  to nominate a business for one of these awards.  We will gladly pass along your comments and nomination to the business, provide an application and encourage them to apply. THE EVENT:

This year’s Torch Awards event will be held on November 15, in Johnson Hall on the Deaconess Hospital Campus  from 11:30 A.M .to 1:00 P.M.  Our keynote speaker this year will be Steve Scheibner who was to be the pilot on Flight 11 (the first flight to hit the Twin Towers) on 9-11-2001.  Mr. Scheibner was bumped from this flight during a short scheduling window just the day before and has since developed a “Character Matters” series elevating ethics and integrity in youth, parents and married couples. Mr. Scheibner will share his amazing story and elements from his series at the 2012 Torch event.
