People are trying to buy more fuel-friendly cars and rethinking long commutes all in an effort to feel a bit less shell-shocked after those necessary trips to the pump. If you are interested in getting a general idea of your car’s fuel efficiency, and how those MPG estimates translate into everyday gas costs, you can check out your current (or prospective) vehicle’s fuel efficiency on www.fueleconomy.gov. The fuel prices used in their calculations are a bit low at this point (Assumed Fuel Prices: Regular: 3.39, Premium: 3.61, and Diesel: 4.06), but at the very least you can get a picture of how much it’s costing you to make that daily commute.
