Your BBB® is pleased to announce the development of a new free app created as part of the BBB® Military and Veterans Initiative which is one facet of the BBB Center for Fraud Prevention. The BBB Center for Fraud Prevention is one of three centers for excellence under the BBB Institute for Marketplace Trust.
The MobileMi$$ion app, made possible by a grant from American Express, is “designed specifically for transitioning service members, veterans, and their families to help them navigate their finances during the transition from active duty to civilian life.” MobileMi$$ion gives users access to learning activities and a financial counselor via any connected Android device.
All mentors provided through the app are trained military spouses actively earning an Accredited Financial Counselor certification from the Association for Financial Counseling, Planning and Education (AFCPE). Because the mentors have lived through the military experience, they have a better understanding of the challenges facing transitioning service members and their families.
MobileMi$$ion is currently running a pilot program with limited spaces to test the first version of the app. Any active duty service members from any branch planning to transition in the coming year, currently transitioning service members from any branch, and veterans from any branch who have transitioned in the past five years may participate in the pilot.
Participants need to have an Android smartphone or tablet with a data plan or access to wifi. Participants must be willing to share feedback about their experiences at the end of the pilot period via a confidential online or phone survey for the purpose of improving the app.
To download the app and secure your spot to participate in the pilot, visit www.go.bbb.org/mobilemission and use the code vet2015 to sign up.
