On June 19th Best Buy issued a recall of over 5,000 replacement batteries for MacBook Pro due to concerns of potential fire hazard. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 13 reports or such fires include one serious burn to a user’s leg.
According to the CPSC’s report which you can view here. The ATG batteries were manufacturer in China and were sold between September 2008 and June 2012 using the model numbers MC-MBOOK13B and MC-BOOK13W. The remedy that the CPSC gives is to stop using the product immediately and contact Best Buy for either a new Apple battery or a $50 gift card.
