On Tuesday June 18th, Chrysler agreed to recall over 1.5 million Jeeps due to concerns from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about fuel tanks catching fire in an accident. You can view the story in this article from ABC News and this article from NBC News.
According to these articles the recall allows owners of the recalled vehicles access to shielding for the fuel tank that previously they would have had to pay for along with reinforcement to the filler hose that was previously not available.
The recall applies to Jeep Grand Cherokee from 1993 to 2004 and Jeep Liberty from 2002 to 2007.
