Ford Recalls 1.38 Million Vehicles

Your BBB has been made aware of a major recall to Ford and Lincoln Fusions and MKZs. 1.38 million Ford and Lincoln cars are being recalled because steering wheels can come loose or completely detach, according to USA Today.

Ford has officially acknowledged the issue and in a statement, they confirm that the steering wheel bolts could result in a steering wheel detaching from the steering column.

According to the announcement, the steering wheel recall has caused two reported accidents and one reported injury.

The Ford recalls will affect 1.3 million cars in the United States, 62,000 in Canada, and 14,000 in Mexico.

The Fusion’s and Mkz’s that are affected by the recall are:

2014 through 2017 Ford Fusions made at the Flat Rock, Michigan plant from August 6, 2013, through February 29, 2016. 2014 through 2018 Ford Fusions made the Hermosillo, Mexico, plant from July 25, 2013, to March 5, 2018. Along with the Fusion, the Hermosillo, Mexico, plant produced 2014 to 2018 Lincoln MKZs from July 25, 2013, to March 5, 2018, that are included in the recall as well.

If you are wondering if your MKZ or Fusion is part of the recall, visit the NHTSA recall website where you can enter your vehicles vehicle identification number (VIN) to find out about any recalls on your vehicle. You can find the link, here.
