Ford Recalls 441,000 Vehicles Due to Fire Risk and Door Latch Concerns

Your BBB® has learned that Ford is recalling over 400,000 vehicles over door latch issues and fire risk concerns. The first recall targets 230,756 vehicles that might present under-hood fires. These are the affected models:

  • model year 2014 Ford Escape
  • model year 2014 to 2015 Ford Fiesta ST
  • model year 2013 to 2014 Ford Fusion
  • model year 2013 to 2015 Ford Transit Connect

The problem seems to be a lack of coolant circulation that could cause the engine to overheat. Ultimately, this issue could lead to cracks in the cylinder head. According to Ford, there have been 29 reports of fires caused by this problem in both US and Canada. However, no one was hurt.

The second recall targets 210,619 vehicles: model year 2014 Fiesta, model year 2013 to 2014 Fusion, and model year 2013 to 2014 Lincoln MKZ.

The company says it will notify owners and dealers of these issues. If you own any of these models, you are asked to contact Ford as soon as possible.
