Fresh Express Recalls Salad Mix Due to Dead Bat Contamination

Your BBB® has learned that Fresh Express is recalling a salad mix after a dead bat was allegedly found in two of these containers. “Out of an abundance of caution, all salads manufactured in the same production run are being recalled,” says the Food & Drug Administration.

The recalled item is the 5 oz. Organic Marketside Spring Mix in clear packaging and with the code G089B19, and best before the date of APR 14, 2017. You can also look for the UPC code 6 8113132897 5 on the bottom of the container. Samples of the dead bat found in the salad mix were sent to CDC for a rabies test, but the “deteriorated condition of the bat did not allow for CDC to definitively rule out whether this bat had rabies.”

If you ate this product, you are urged to contact a medical professional. If you purchased this item, discard and don’t consume it!
