The guidelines the FTC announced regarding social media advertising are to make disclosures easier to understand. Part of the new guidelines are to clarify placement of the disclosure on the screen. Basically the disclosure must be in proximity to the text in the ad.
To assist advertisers with these new rules, the FTC has created a new publication called .com Disclosures.
The guidelines also address use of popups both online and on smart phones, and use of Flash Player which doesn’t work on most smart phones.
