Hang up on Robocalls

ABC News aired a story on October 16th interviewing a representative with the Federal Trade Commission about robocalls. Robocalls are pre-recorded sales pitches that that dial your number and ask you to press a key to speak to a sales representative. Lois Griesman, an Associate Director with the FTC, said in the interview that consumers should hang up and not press anything. She went on to explain that not only are robocalls themselves illegal but the sales pitches are virtually all illegal too. According to the interview the best response is to hang up on the call. You can see the interview here.

Also today, October 18th the FTC is hosting a summit on robocalls. The announcement of the summit can be viewed here.  The link also provides links to consumer tips regarding robocalls.
