Hurricane Relief

Hurricane season is upon us, and with it comes relief efforts to assist those who are affected by such disasters.

Whenever there is a disaster, there always are opportunists who come along who are more interested in “profiting” from others situations.

Hurricane Isaac has created such an event, and the BBB wants to remind anyone planning on giving to disaster relief efforts to proceed with caution.

The first thing people should do is to check out the charity to which they plan to give, and to insure that the funds actually go to the relief effort.  Start by checking out any charity at www.bbb.org/charity.

Another thing to keep in mind is that even after the initial disaster strikes, there will still be needs for a period of time after the fact.
