The Attorney General’s office for the State of Indiana issued a press release on the 17th citing the top 3 illegal telemarketing calls that are reported to the office. The AG reports that they have received over 5,000 complaints about telemarketing calls so far this year and hundreds of them fall into 3 specific kinds.
1. Robocalls from Cardholders Services.
2. Robocalls from security companies mentioning an FBI report for crime in your area.
3. Live calls from someone claiming to be Publisher’s Clearinghouse asking for money in order to send you a prize.
Keep in mind that the Attorney General’s office labels these calls as illegal. Click here to view the press release.
We also receive countless calls about the same types of telemarketing. Remember unless a robocall is coming from the school district or your employer (as mentioned in the press release) you should hang up and never press any button. Do not send money by wire transfer or prepaid card to someone who calls claiming you have won a prize.
