Purchasing Super Bowl Tickets on the Street

Well it’s that time of the year again. Time for the Big Game and this year it’s in Indy. The Giants and Patriots play on February 5th and if you’re thinking of getting a last-minute ticket from a scalper here’s something to keep in mind.

Indianapolis has a city ordinance requiring “scalpers” also called “ticket brokers” to be licensed if they are selling tickets within one mile of the stadium.  They also cannot sell the tickets for more than 15% above face value.

WishTV channel 8 in Indy reports that the licensing procedure will include a background check and is intended to discourage the sale of counterfeit tickets. You can see their entire story here.

The BBB in Indy recommends only buying tickets from brick-and-mortar businesses or trusted websites. You can check with the BBB about businesses that sell tickets and ask if they are BBB accredited.

You can check with the licensing department in Indy at 317-327-4316 or online at www.indy.gov
