Looking for a name for your baby and want to find out what names are popular (or not popular)? Your BBB® follows the latest news from the Social Security Administration (SSA), and in a May 6, 2016 Press Release the SSA revealed the names. New this year is a baby names quiz at Social Security Matters, the agency’s interactive blog located at http://blog.socialsecurity.gov to help future parents come up with baby names. In addition to keeping track of baby names, the SSA provides information for parents on important topics such as “Social Security Numbers for Children” and “Benefits for Children with Disabilities” in the Kids and Families section.

Just to give you a preview of what you can find out, from 1916 – 2015, the male name Michael has held the top spot most often (44 times), while the female name Mary has been ranked number one 40 times over those years. The SSA reports that this webpage is one of their most popular and received over 2.9 million visits in 2014.
