Consumer Webinar – Monday, Jan 29, 2:00 pm EST
At 2 pm EST, the Federal Trade Commission will host a webinar designed to help consumers navigate through scams, tax-related issues and the steps they need to follow in order to report a crime.
IRS Imposter Scam Webinar – Tuesday, Jan 30, 2:30 pm EST
This webinar will be hosted by the FTC, AARP Fraud Watch Network, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. On the agenda: how scammers operate, how to avoid scams, recovery steps for victims, as well as how to access free resources for you and your family.
Twitter Chat – Wednesday, Jan 31, 11:00 am EST
This Twitter chat will be hosted by the FTC and the Department of Veterans Affairs and it will focus on minimizing the risk of tax identity theft. You can join the conversation by using #VeteranIDTheft. Also, at 1:00 pm EST, the same day, there will be a closed webinar for veterans and their families.
Small Business Webinar – Thursday, Feb 1, 1:00 pm EST
This webinar is hosted by the FTC and the IRS and focuses on tax-related ID theft, imposter scams that target small businesses, as well as cybersecurity tips and much more. At 3:00 pm EST the same day, the FTC and the Identity Theft Resource Center will host a Twitter chat regarding the best ways to protect yourself from tax-related frauds.
