Tri-State BBB Ad Review Statistics for 2007

The Tri-State BBB handled a total of 58 advertising review challenges and complaints in 2007 through the Bureau’s regular monitoring efforts and through information provided by consumers and competitors. The basic principles of the BBB Code of Advertising work to assist businesses foster consumer trust and confidence. These principles include: the responsibility of advertisers to substantiate any claims or offers made; the use of advertisements which are not misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, or falsely disparaging of competitors; the use of advertisements which do not misrepresent information by omitting or obscuring material facts.
