Your BBB® has learned that GM is recalling 690,685 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks (model 1500) after discovering that the vehicles may feature a defective steering system.

According to this National Highway Traffic Safety Commission notice, the vehicles may feature a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist followed by a sudden return of the EPS assist. GM says that this issue occurs mostly when driving at low speeds. This problem could lead to a temporary loss of the steering wheel’s control functions, thus increasing the risk of a car accident.

General Motors will contact all affected vehicles owners and authorized dealers will perform a free or charge revamp of the EPS module.

For questions, you can call GM at a phone number you know to be correct.
